About Us

What is STAR about?

The STAR program is not just about education and mentoring. It is about giving students a voice and a part in preventing violence in their community. It is about being a part of a change in the way people think, behave, and interact. STAR groups can create signs, t-shirts, contests, programs, videos, and educational programs. They speak out at conferences, meetings, assemblies, and anywhere else they can. They  get involved in changing policies and minds.

Why Me?

Because this type of violence affects you. The widespread nature of these crimes means that is highly possible they could happen to you or someone you know.

Because you have a voice.  Whatever your talent is-writing, singing, speaking, listening, humor, etc– you can use it to help others.

Because you can make a difference. You can help bring real change to your school, your community, and even future generations.

Because it is fun.  Not only is peer education effective, STAR groups are about being interesting and interactive.

Because it is time. This is your chance to help others now. Your chance to bring change today.

Because we need you.
