On average 39% of the population the Crime Victim Assistance Center served were children.

In response, the Eastland County Crisis Center began spearheading the effort to bring a Children's Advocacy Center to Eastland County. This multidisciplinary effort is supported by the efforts and donations of Eastland County law enforcement agencies, District Attorney's office, faith groups, Child Protective Services, Child Welfare Board, and many interested volunteers. There has also been tremendous Community support, both financial and moral support. Many area citizens and businesses have made generous contributions to make this a reality in the community.

A Children's Advocacy Center is a community-based, non-profit organization established to improve the way we respond to the problem of child abuse and to the needs of child victims.

It combines investigative fact finding with victim support, information, and intervention in a child friendly facility.

It is more than a partnership of community involvement and professionals-it is an opportunity for healing.

On September 1, 2008, The Eastland County Children's Advocacy Center began.  The Eastland Chamber of Commerce donated the use of the the former Chamber office at 102 South Seaman Street.

The office was remodeled, repainted and named "The Wright Place" after James T. Wright, who was director of the Eastland Chamber for many years.

The Eastland County Children's Advocacy Center began providing services to children in March 2009.  In August 2009, the CAC staff attended the Crimes Against Children Conference in Dallas, and made this training available to local law enforcement agencies and local CPS staff at no cost.  This training is vital to enhance our community efforts to provide comprehensive services and restoration of the lives of children that are effected by abuse.

Thank you to everyone in  the community for supporting this effort with their monetary donations,  Higginbotham's Lumber for donating the paint for the remodel, and also to the Artists of Eastland County for the donor mural painting.

Special thanks to the Eastland County Commissioner's Court, and the cities of Eastland, Cisco, and Gorman for their continuing financial support.

Without the support from everyone, this program would not be possible.
